GOSHEN – Orange County recorded 924 new COVID-19 cases in one day bringing the county’s total case count since the pandemic began to over 72,000. Four additional people died from the deadly virus in one day, bringing the county death toll to 975.

People are flooding hospital emergency rooms fearing that they have contracted the disease, so County Executive Steven Neuhaus is taken a new step.

“What we are going to start doing, the Medical Reserve Corps is going to start backing up these hospitals with some of the testing. That has been the biggest problem,” he said.

The county s expecting a new shipment of home testing kits from Albany while at the same time, ordering thousands on its own. They will be distributed through the cities and towns based on population.
