State Police car hit while trooper investigates accident

TOWN OF ULSTER – A state trooper was injured last Monday night as he sat in his patrol car on the left shoulder of the northbound Thruway in the Town of Ulster when a 2020 Mini Cooper lost control and hit the troop car from behind.

Trooper James Adams, a seven-year-veteran of the Kingston barracks, was taken to a hospital in Kingston for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries following th 10:15 incident.

The Mini Cooper was driven by Katherine Pinedo, 33, of Albany. Two passengers in her car, Erika PInedo, 36, and Telmo Pinedo, 64, of Sunrise, Florida were also taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the vehicle in the initial crash was not injured.

The accident remains under investigation.

State Police remind drivers to slow down and move over when emergency and construction vehicles are working in the highway.
