FISHKILL – The Fishkill Town Police Department celebrates its 50th anniversary this month.
In June of 1969, the Town of Fishkill Constabulary force was created with Donald Williams as the chief constable.
On December 20, 1971, the Town of Fishkill Police Department was established.
The following January, the town became a first-class town and Donald Williams was later named the first chief of police.
Today, the department provides full-time 24/7/365 coverage, manned completely by part-time sworn police officers trained and certified by the state.
