Wind damage in Circleville

MID-HUDSON – The strong winds rolled through the Hudson Valley Saturday night sounding like a freight train in some areas, bringing trees down onto powerlines.

There were reports of roads blocked in some areas by those fallen trees and live wires.

At the corner of Routes 302 and 17M in Circleville, an uprooted tree landed on powerlines, but fortunately for the family in the house fed by those cables, their lights stayed on.

The Circleville Fire Department was called to the scene along with Orange and Rockland Utilities.

Early Sunday morning, Sparrowbush firefighters were called out to a report of a tree on wires.

There were no reports of injuries or major damage anywhere in the region.
