GOSHEN – Orange County Government is poised to follow other area counties by offering hazard pay to COVID-19 frontline healthcare workers.

County Legislator Jimmy O’Donnell said those employees deserve the additional compensation for the job they have done during the pandemic.

“Especially in Valley View (the county’s nursing home in Goshen), they answered the bell. They deserve to get some type of recognition in the form of monetary reward for that,” he said.

Exactly how much and who would qualify will have to be worked out between county officials and the unions representing the employees, O’Donnell said.
