CARMEL – A Newtown, Connecticut man who is serving over 18 years in a New York prison for burglary and bail jumping has had his conviction and sentence upheld by the Appellate Division of State Supreme Court.

Anthony Magliocco was convicted in Putnam County Court in April 2018 for the August 2014 break in at a home in the Town of Southeast and then fleeing to Russia after being released from without bail.

He was arrested a year later when he flew from Russia to Los Angeles.

On appeal, Magliocco challenged the guilty verdict on the burglary charge. That was rejected by the appellate division as was his contention that the county court failed to properly instruct the jury on the elements of burglary.

The court also ruled that the sentences were not excessive.
