MIDDLETOWN – Some two weeks after out-of-towners caused $13,000 worth of graffiti vandalism to the City of Middletown’s skatepark, it is back up and running.

Mayor Joseph DeStefano said the police have one person of interest and are looking for two others.

“It is important to know that an outside came in – someone who doesn’t live here – at two o’clock in the morning and made racial and sexual comments in spray painting and vandalizing a $600,000 city park facility,” he said. “I think that deserves a penalty both financial and whatever else the judge and DA see fit, but someone has to be held accountable.”

DeStefano said the entire skatepark had to be resurfaced as a result of the vandalism.
