POUGHKEEPSIE – Dutchess County Sheriff Adrian “Butch” Anderson passed away last week and the memorial service for the beloved 50-year veteran member of law enforcement began on Tuesday at the Majed J. Nesheiwat Convention Center (Mid Hudson Civic Center) in Poughkeepsie.

Anderson’s body was escorted from the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home on Hooker Avenue to the convention center by members of the department that he led since first elected in 1999.  His flag-draped casket was carried into the building by members of law enforcement, led by Anderson’s dedicated Undersheriff, Kirk Imperati.  The procession was viewed by several officers and grieving family and friends.

Inside, a line of mourners filled the perimeter of the floor, while dozens of banner-sized pictures of Anderson’s career adorned the walls.  With the casket at center-stage, flanked by two officers, mourners paid their respects and then spent a few moments with the sheriff’s widow, Danielle Anderson and Butch’s first-born son, Jake.

The memorial service and wake were open to the public until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, with the funeral service taking place on Wednesday at the same facility.  Information regarding the services can be found here.
