POUGHKEEPSIE – City of Poughkeepsie police were dispatched to Muldowney Circle early Thursday morning for a report of seven gunshots heard by the caller.  Multiple units responded and began investigating the report at the Corlies Manor apartment complex that has been plagued by violent crimes in recent months.

The initial report was received at approximately 12:36 a.m.  Within minutes, several city cops were in the complex.  At least one person in the area told police that the shots sounded like they were fired closer to Pershing Avenue, just a few blocks away.  A second person gave a similar report to another officer.

The police, according to radio communications, relocated to Pershing Avenue, near the city park, to search the area for evidence of gunfire.  Several officers were seen searching the grassy areas near the basketball court with flashlights looking for evidence.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call 845-451-7577.
