RED HOOK – A 34-year-old Red Hook man was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center on Monday after a motorcycle accident on Route 9G near Rokeby Road in Red Hook.  Police officials say a woman failed to yield the right-of-way to the biker and caused the wreck.
The Red Hook Police were dispatched to the accident at 11:20 on September 6.  Their investigation determined that the man was traveling north on 9G on the motorcycle, approaching Rokeby Road, when a 20-year-old woman from Irvington pulled out of Rokeby into the path of the rider.  The motorcycle struck the woman’s Toyota passenger vehicle and the rider was ejected.  The bike slid off the west shoulder of 9G and burst into flames.
The rider was treated at the scene by the Red Hook Fire Department and Northern Dutchess Paramedics before being airlifted to the hospital.  He sustained serious injuries and is said to be in stable condition.
The driver of the Toyota was ticketed for failing to yield the right of way at the intersection.  The Red Hook Police were assisted at the scene by the New York State Police.
