MOUNT VERNON – When flood waters began to receive on Thursday morning, a passerby noticed an unconscious man in a car on South Columbus Avenue, according to Mount Vernon police.

Police arrived after being notified by the passerby and found 33-year-old Alan Dorsainvil of the Bronx, deceased in the vehicle.  The preliminary investigation indicates that the victim appears to have driven the car into deep standing water on South Columbus Avenue and the vehicle likely became disabled.  As the water continued to rise, police believe that the car quickly filled with water, trapping Dorsainvil.

The official cause of death will be determined after an examination by the Medical Examiner’s Office.
