Motorcycle operator injured in crash with car

Route 9, Town of Poughkeepsie, motorcycle accident with car,

TOWN OF POUGHKEEPSIE – An accident involving a motorcycle and an SUV on Thursday morning on South Road near the Poughkeepsie Galleria has sent the rider to the hospital with serious injuries.  The accident occurred around 9 a.m. on August 26.

Sources tell Mid-Hudson News that the rider was ejected from the bike and landed more than 20 feet away from the point of impact.  The original assessment indicates that the rider may have suffered serious wounds to both legs and at least one arm.  He was treated at the scene and transported to a local hospital.  The condition of the driver  of the passenger vehicle is unknown.
The Town of Poughkeepsie Police closed all three northbound lanes of South Road (Route 9) while the crash was reconstructed.  One lane had been reopened shortly before noon.
No additional information has been released by authorities.
