POUGHKEEPSIE – Shortly after Poughkeepsie City 911 received reports of “shots fired” in the vicinity of Noxon Street Friday night, a wounded victim arrived at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.

Police were dispatched to the area of Noxon and Academy Streets shortly after 11 p.m. for reported gunfire.

City police sent units to the hospital and discovered an unoccupied silver Nissan sedan parked in front of the emergency department entrance. The vehicle had evidence of bullet strikes in the door, as well as at least one flat tire, and a shattered back window.  The car was impounded and towed away as evidence.

A detective at the hospital declined to provide any information on the status of the victim or circumstances surrounding the incident.  The name and condition of the patient were not provided by the police.

Police are asking that anyone with information regarding the alleged shooting call them with the details.  Anonymous tips are welcomed at 845-451-7577.
