POUGHKEEPSIE – City Mayor Rob Rolison is encouraging residents to take advantage of Poughkeepsie’s public pools at Pulaski and Spratt parks during the oppressive heatwave that is engulfing the region.  Both pools are open from 12:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and there is no charge to swim.  The pools are open to city residents only.

The Pulaski Park Pool is at 162 Washington Street and the Spratt Park Pool is at 121 Wilbur Boulevard.

Rolison noted that individuals who need to escape the heat without using the pools can take advantage of cooling centers opening up.

The Adriance Memorial Library at 93 Market Street in Poughkeepsie, and the Boardman Road Branch Library at 141 Boardman Road in the Town of Poughkeepsie, are serving as cooling centers and are open from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday and from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m Friday.  To find out more about the library, go to https://poklib.org/.

The Salvation Army Poughkeepsie Corps Community Center at 19 Pershing Avenue in the city will also operate a cooling center and distribute bottled water from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Thursday and Friday.
