FISHKILL – Town Supervisor Ozzy Albra has named his person to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Fishkill Town Councilman Ori Brachfeld.  Brachfeld resigned from the council effective July 30, after serving on the board since 2014.

Albra was asked last week if any candidates were being considered.  At the time, he told Mid-Hudson News “Reach out to me Thursday, I will have a better feel then.”  On Thursday evening, Albra told said he was putting forth a resolution for the August 11 town board meeting naming Joseph Buono as the person to replace Brachfeld through December 31, 2021.

Albra defended his recommendation, saying, “I will present Mr. Buono to the board as he shares my vision of protecting the town from nefarious developers who want to take advantage of the citizens of Fishkill.”

Buono, according to documents provided by Albra, is an attorney with a private practice in Fishkill since 2019.  He also serves as an associate for a Poughkeepsie law firm.  He has served in that position since 2016.

Buono is said to have earned a Baccalaureate in Political Science from George Washington University in 2009, followed by a law degree earned from the same college in 2012.

Albra did not provide any personal information about his nominee.  A Friday afternoon call to Buono’s office seeking information was not returned.
