POUGHKEEPSIE – City of Poughkeepsie Police and Fire Departments responded to a report of a man that had been shot in the vicinity of Main and North Cherry Streets Thursday around noon.  A call to City 911 said the alleged victim was walking on North Cherry Street heading towards Main Street, saying he had been shot.

Several police units responded to the area and encountered the victim, who repeated the claim that he had sustained a gunshot wound.  After securing the scene, Poughkeepsie firefighters and Mobile Life medics began assessing the man and found no indication that he had been shot or suffered any other wound.
City of Poughkeepsie Police Captain Rich Wilson said that officers canvassed the area and were unable to find any evidence that indicated a shooting had occurred.  After the medical assessment and police questioning, the man was permitted to leave the scene.
No further action was taken.
