NEW ROCHELLE – An Uber driver is suffering from non-life-threatening wounds after an underage girl stabbed him in the chest two times.

New Rochelle Police said the driver picked up five passengers at New Roc City entertainment complex around 2:25 p.m. on July 2 and shortly into their transport, a verbal dispute ensued between the driver and a female juvenile passenger.

During the dispute, another underage girl stabbed the driver in the chest twice. The driver was transported to Jacobi Hospital.

The five passengers fled on foot but were stopped by police.

Investigation revealed that two adult passengers were in possession of illegal handguns, one of which was a “ghost gun” with no serial number, and a high-capacity magazine.

Omar Gaines, 18, of the Bronx, was in possession of a 9 mm handgun and charged with criminal possession of a weapon.

David Owens, 20, of the Bronx, was in possession of a “ghost gun” loaded with a 33-round high-capacity magazine and was charged with criminal possession of a weapon and unlawful possession of a high-capacity magazine.

Two underage girls were charged with assault returnable to family court.

The remaining man was released as he was not involved in the crime.
