NEW ROCHELLE – A New Rochelle man, wanted for criminal contempt stemming from an incident on May 15, was arrested by city police shortly after 11 p.m. on June 10.
Police officers observed an occupied, parked vehicle on Crescent Avenue and knew the identity of one of the occupants, and that he had an outstanding warrant.
Investigation resulted in the recovery of a loaded .9mm handgun with a 30-round extended magazine, along with a bag of 30 rounds of .9mm ammunition, from the vehicle. Wilmer Maldonado, 20, of New Rochelle was charged with criminal possession of a weapon and unlawful possession of certain ammunition feeding devices not in home.
Janetti Oceguera-Coyt, 20, of New Rochelle was charged with criminal possession of a weapon and unlawful possession of certain ammunition feeding devices not in home.
Daniel Barcenas, 20, of New Rochelle was charged with criminal possession of a weapon, unlawful possession of certain ammunition feeding devices not in home, criminal contempt for disobeying a court order and aggravated harassment.
Abel Coyt, 35, of New Rochelle; charged with criminal possession of a weapon and unlawful possession of certain ammunition feeding devices not in home.
Further investigation by New Rochelle Police detectives resulted in Coyt, Maldonado and Barcenas being charged with attempted murder and reckless endangerment in connection with an incident that occurred on April 30 at 11:35 p.m. in the vicinity of Union Avenue and Fourth Street, in which shots were fired by Coyt into a moving vehicle.
A warrant was filed on Jair Barcenas, 18, of New Rochelle, charging him with attempted murder and reckless endangerment in connection with the April 30 shooting. It is anticipated that he will be booked on June 14.
