WASHINGTON – The Federal Aviation Administration Thursday announced the awarding of Airport Improvement Program grants to several airports in the Hudson Valley, but New York Stewart International was not on the list.

Westchester County Airport in White Plains, the only other airport in the area that provides commercial airline service, received $3.3 million.

Smaller facilities, including privately and county-operated facilities, received funding under the latest round of those grants.

Joseph Y Resnick Airport in Ellenville received $100,000 to rehabilitate an apron and taxi lane.

Columbia County Airport in Hudson received $100,000 for runway and taxiway rehabilitation.

Orange County Airport in Montgomery received $1.5 million for the construction of a snow removal equipment building and to rehabilitate an apron.

Hudson Valley Regional Airport in Wappinger, formerly known as Dutchess County Airport, received $60,000 to acquire aircraft rescue and firefighting safety equipment.

Two of Stewart’s big sister airports, also owned by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, were awarded grants – $24.3 million to JFK to reconstruct a runway and rehab a taxiway, and $4.6 million to LaGuardia to rehab a runway and taxiway.
