BEDFORD – Dozens showed up with sweaters and blankets on Sunday afternoon to hear Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney (D, NY-18) recap the financial components of the latest COVID-19 relief package during a meet-and-greet session in Bedford.

Maloney also addressed the latest spate of fatal shootings around the country saying while he supports the Second Amendment right to bear arms, he does not support the right to own assault weapons.

“I would ban assault weapons, flat out ban then; you don’t need them,” he said to a round of applause. “You don’t have to own a machine gun or bazooka either, and nobody scream Second Amendment. You don’t have a Second Amendment right to an AR-15. You just don’t.”

Maloney also said  he is glad to see that President Biden also cares about climate change.
