GOSHEN – A Greentown, Pennsylvania man, wanted there on an assault charge, was captured by police in Orange County Monday morning after he eluded officers overnight.
Zachary Degroat, 21, was first spotted driving on Scotchtown Avenue in Goshen around 10 p.m. Sunday. The truck he was driving crashed into a ravine and he took off on foot.
Around 4 a.m. Monday, police spotted him at the Quickchek convenience store in Goshen and when officers responded to the scene, he fled into a wetlands area behind the store where he evaded police until about 9 a.m. when he was taken into custody, said Goshen Village Police Chief James Watt.
