BEAR MOUNTAIN – Construction has been completed for two cell phone towers in the “dead zone” on the Palisades Interstate Parkway between Orange and Rockland counties, State Senator James Skoufis (D, Cornwall) announced.

The two Verizon towers are located at the Overlook Lodge in Bear Mountain State Park and at the south end of the Anthony Wayne Recreational Area.

Skoufis and local officials called for the improved service last spring just before the Anthony Wayne area was transformed by the state into a COVID-19 drive-thru testing site.

That only emphasized the need for the cell service, which had been lacking for decades.
