WASHINGTONVILLE – One man is being treated for what appears to be a non-life-threating stab wound following an altercation in Washingtonville Saturday night.

Police Chief Brian Zaccaro said officers were called to a Hampshire Drive address around 9 p.m. for a victim who had been stabbed.

The victim told police he was visiting a friend on Ballard Pond Drive when a man forced his way into the home and began a physical altercation with the two men inside.

The wounded man was able to escape after being injured and call from Hampshire Drive. He was transported to Montefiore St. Luke’s Hospital in Newburgh.

The investigation is ongoing and is believed to have stemmed from a domestic incident with police tracking down leads on the suspect who fled before police arrive.
