WARWICK – Readings from the Bible, prayers and song highlighted the funeral service on Saturday for Daniel “Danny” Prial, 30, who was one of three Army National Guardsmen who were killed on January 20 when the helicopter they were in crashed during a training mission near Rochester.

“If you knew Danny, you loved Danny,” said his dad, Greg. “He knew love, he knew what it was to be loved. He got cheated out of time, but he didn’t get cheated out of life.”

Danny’s brother, Terence, said his brother was “completely electric.”

Danny’s three sisters, Becky Fullam, Brigid Prial, and Jennie Prial, each read a passage during the funeral mass St. Stephens Church in Warwick.

A clergyman and friend of the Prial family said Danny and the other two soldiers who died, Christian Koch and Steven Skoda, are heroes, because the crash site was surrounded by houses and they sacrificed their lives to protect the residents of the area.

As his coffin was escorted from the sanctuary, a vocalist sang “Danny Boy.”
