Domestic incident draws large police presence

RHINEBECK – A reported domestic incident on Sunday drew a large police response to East Market Street in Rhinebeck.

The incident occurred around noon on Sunday.  Initial reports indicate that it included a barricaded person who may have been holding a hostage.  Rhinebeck police were assisted by personnel from the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office and the New York State Police.

The incident caused the closure of East Market Street in the vicinity of town hall until it was resolved.

Police activity ended at the scene around 1 p.m. and the road was reopened to traffic.
