Fire injures man in New Windsor condo

NEW WINDSOR – A man said to be in his 60s was injured in a fire in a condominium building at 56 Kenwood Drive in New Windsor on Friday afternoon.

He was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center for treatment of injuries. Five other occupants were assisted to safety by New Windsor Police.

Firefighters encountered high heat and fire when they entered the apartment, but the flames were quickly knocked down.

New Windsor firefighters were assisted by Vails gate, Cornwall, Cornwall-on-Hudson and Newburgh, Goodwill provided a landing zone and Salisbury Mills was on standby.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known with New Windsor Fire Prevention investigating the cause and origin.
