Brooklyn man arrested in Rockland with illegally possessed gun

RAMAPO – A Sunset Park, Brooklyn man was committed to the Rockland County Jail on $250,000 bail Saturday after he was found in possession of a .25 caliber handgun in his pants pocket.

A state trooper pulled over to assist a vehicle stopped in the southbound lane at exit 11 on the Palisades Parkway in the Town of Ramapo at around 2:12 p.m. and while speaking with the driver, identified as Mario Pacho Tocachi, 28, he determined the man was impaired by alcohol.

While speaking with Tocachi outside the vehicle, he took off on foot, but was apprehended a short time later. While searching him, troopers found the gun as well as cocaine. A search of his vehicle yielded additional cocaine.

Tocachi was charged with criminal possession of firearm, criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a controlled substance, obstructing governmental administration and resisting arrest. He was also charged with felony DWI and aggravated unlicensed operation.
