Poughkeepsie cops arrest man for gun possession

POUGHKEEPSIE – City of Poughkeepsie Police arrested an out-of-state man on Friday for carrying an illegal firearm in the city.

On Friday around 12:43 p.m., City of Poughkeepsie Community Policing officers responded to the area of 11 Boulevard Knolls for a report of a suspicious person walking around the area with a holstered pistol on his side.

The responding officers encountered a man matching the description provided and stopped him.  During the encounter, officers discovered and seized a loaded Colt 1911 handgun from the suspect identified as 52-year-old Tony Erhardt of Arizona.

Erhardt was arrested for felony criminal possession of a weapon.  Erhardt was arraigned by City of Poughkeepsie Court Judge Volkmann and remanded to Dutchess County Jail.
