Mall evacuated over bomb threat

TOWN OF NEWBURGH – The Newburgh Mall on Route 300/Union Avenue in the Town of Newburgh was evacuated late in the afternoon on New Year’s Day when authorities received a bomb threat.

The reported threat, received by phone, indicated a man was in a restroom inside the Sears store with a bomb strapped to him.

Town and State Police searched the mall with nothing suspicious found and operations were returned to normal.
