NEW PALTZ – Dozens of volunteers braved Saturday’s cold weather and placed wreaths on every grave at the Veterans Cemetery in New Paltz Rural Cemetery.

It was part of the annual nationwide Wreaths Across America when donated wreaths are placed on veterans’ graves all across the country, at sea and abroad.

“It’s to honor their service,” said Kathleen Mironchik, who was among the volunteers at the New Paltz ceremony on Saturday.

Each December wreaths are placed on the graves of servicemen and women buried at Arlington National Cemetery and over 2,100 other cemeteries around the country.
