Car accident takes down pole, knocks out power in Cornwall

CORNWALL – A car accident early Saturday afternoon on Route 9W north in Cornwall knocked out power to an estimated 1,500 residents.

A car struck a utility pole, shearing it down and overturning on the side of the road.

Area police, fire and EMS personnel responded to the scene.

It was not immediately known how many people were in the car or the nature of any injuries.
