TOWN OF NEWBURGH – When a man was waiting to check out at the Marshall’s department store in the Town of Newburgh recently, he asked the only person on line without a mask to put one on. She refused and went on a verbal tirade that was video recorded.
Town Police Chief Bruce Campbell urged everyone to wear masks in public.
“I hadn’t seen the video you are referring to, but it’s more about being respectful of other people as well and helping to keep the virus down until the vaccine can get into place and become fully functional. Everybody should be wearing a mask. That’s the directive, that’s the recommendation from the CDC and the health department,” he said.
Campbell said officers have responded to a few complaint calls about people not wearing masks, but the situations are usually resolved by the time they get there.
