POUGHKEEPSIE – Former Dutchess County Legislator Leonard Babiarz passed away on November 29. He was 88.
Babiarz served as a Poughkeepsie town councilman and also as a member of the county legislature for several years.
He was a retired employee of Central Hudson Gas and Electric Corporation.
County Executive Marc Molinaro said Babiarz “dedicated his life to his loved ones and is his community.”
The executive said, “Strong in faith and devoted to serving others, Len lived a life of selflessness – first serving his parish as a young man, defending our nation as a member of the United States Marine Corps, assisting his Poughkeepsie neighbors as town board member and later as a county legislator.”
Molinaro served on the legislature at the same time as Babiarz.
