ALBANY – Sales tax revenue is up in all Hudson Valley counties in September as compared to just two months earlier, State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli reported. That is a sign that people are going back out and shopping despite the continued coronavirus pandemic.
Regionwide, $138.6 million was collected in July compared to $217.8 million in September.
Indoor malls were allowed to reopen a couple of months ago attracting shoppers to practice appropriate safety precautions including wearing masks and washing hands and using hand sanitizer often.
Ulster County saw the greatest increase in sales tax revenue, 87.0 percent, from July to September.
Orange and Westchester counties each saw a 44 percent increase in sales tax revenue.
