POUGHKEEPSIE – City of Poughkeepsie police are investigating a shooting that occurred Sunday night in the vicinity of 168 Winnikee Avenue.
Police received reports of a man shot at 11:07 p.m. Sunday.
Responding officers arrived and found a 20-year-old male Poughkeepsie resident in a vehicle, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
He was transported to MidHudson Regional Hospital for medical treatment.
Police say that the vehicle the victim was sitting in was also struck by gunfire multiple times.
According to Detective Lieutenant Matt Clark, the shooting does not appear to be a random act of violence.
