KINGSTON – This election cycle is only the second one in New York that allowed early voting and tens of thousands of Hudson Valley residents are taking advantage of it.

In Ulster County, Executive Patrick Ryan said 20 percent of the county’s eligible voters have already cast a ballots.

“As of Wednesday night, we had crossed over 15,000 early voters, in fact, it’s closer to 16,000 early voters as well as we have had record-setting absentee mail-in numbers. We have already received over 12,000 absentee ballots with a lot more coming, and of course, they will be received up and after the actual election day, next Tuesday,” he said.

All across the Hudson Valley, lines at early polling sites have been so long that people have had to wait for hours.
