FISHKILL – The surge in online purchasing has resulted in Gap Inc. to hire 1,400 new employees for the holiday season at its Fishkill distribution center.
Jobs will include packing, assembling merchandise and preparing orders for shipment.
Company officials said they are providing more flexibility to work this holiday season. “Flex” employees will have the ability to choose which hours during the day, night and weekends they prefer to work, with the option to work more hours if they want.
The company is also upping all starting rates by $1 for new full-time, part-time, and seasonal employees. That will be effective October 18.
