TOWN OF WALLKILL – Some 50 people marched on Saturday from Middletown City Hall to Wallkill Town Hall with a message to local police that black lives matter.

The marchers carried banners and signs with that message.

Several police officers were at Wallkill Town Hall while protestors stood on the other side of yellow police tape.

A woman, who declined to identify herself to a reporter, and spoke through a bullhorn at the town hall, addressed the officers in front of her. She told them they “lack the empathy and lack the ability to understand the pain of an entire race of people.”

This was the latest local march and rally following the recent killings of black people by police officers around the country.
