Sheriff’s K9 helps seize large quantity of heroin

KINGSTON – A 35-year-old Kingston man was arrested on Sunday, August 23, as a result of a traffic stop in the Town of Esopus by Ulster County Sheriff’s deputies.

The traffic stop on Lakeview Terrace in the Town of Esopus led to a search of the subject’s car by Ulster County Sheriff’s K9, Jack.  The canine alerted to narcotics in the vehicle.  Deputies discovered approximately 250 bags of heroin in the vehicle.
The man was charged with the felonies of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree and the traffic infraction for failing to signal a turn.
He was released with an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Esopus Court on a later date.
