TOWN OF MONTGOMERY – The National Weather Service, using temporary equipment in place for the upcoming NY International Air Show, confirmed that the storm damage in Montgomery on Thursday was the result of an EF-0 tornado that touched down in town.

The actual path of the devastating weather incident is still being mapped, according to weather experts.  Equipment measured wind speeds reaching 82 miles-per-hour for the tornado.

Town Supervisor Brian Maher issued a statement after the storm on Thursday, saying “If you are a Town resident, including all three Villages, and are in need of food, water, or any other type of assistance you can call the #TOMSTRONG Community Response Team at 845-741-2835. Our volunteers will be ready to help!”
