MONTGOMERY – The New York International Air Show, which has been held at New York Stewart International Airport for years, has been planned for the Orange County Airport in Montgomery. It will be held on the weekend of August 29 and 30.

It was unclear, given the COVID-19 restriction on the size of gatherings, if it would be allowed, even at the much smaller county airport.

The county has planned on it just being a drive-in air show with no static displays and with that plan in place, Governor Andrew Cuomo, Monday, told Mid-Hudson News, that would be acceptable.

“A drive-in aerial would be a new concept, but you could do a drive-in by the drive-in rules, but there would be no ground aspect,” he said.

County Executive Steven Neuhaus said the show will run for three hours in the skies over the Montgomery area. There will be limited socially distanced parking on the airport, but he said the show will be visible from a number of locations – but, don’t park along the roads.

The US Air Force Thunderbirds will be back performing this year.
