Beacon Police increases transparency by posting daily blotter online

BEACON – In a move to increase transparency with the community, the Beacon Police daily blotter is being placed online.

“This is a first step of making policing information readily available, to both inform the public, and to increase transparency and build trust,” said Mayor Lee Kyriacou. He said that follows the recently held public forum attended virtually by 200 people. “We are also beginning to organize a comprehensive policing review and plan process, consistent with the governor’s executive order on the topic.”

Acting City Police Chief William Cornett said transparency is “a top priority” for the police department.
