PINE ISLAND – A 26-year-old Highland Mills man sustained several stab wounds on Saturday, July 4 while at a gathering at 60 Feagles Road in Pine Island.
Warwick Town Police said the 26-year-old victim tried to intervene in a domestic dispute between two family members when he was stabbed at about 9:50 p.m. He was not directly involved in the argument, police said.
He was rushed to St. Anthony’s Community Hospital in Warwick in critical condition and later upgraded to stable condition.
Police arrested Peter Fazio, 32, of 60 Feagles Road and charged him with armed assault and criminal possession of a weapon, both as violent felonies based on prior convictions.
The incident was investigated by the Warwick Town Police Detective Unit and the State Police ID Unit.
