NEWBURGH – A pre-dawn fire at 197 First Street in the City of Newburgh brought in area fire departments to fight the two-alarm blaze.

Flames shot out of the top floor as firefighters rolled up to the scene.

Mutual aid came from West Point, Air National Guard, Good Will, Vails Gate, and Castle Point Fire Departments. Beacon was on standby at the Newburgh Public Safety Building.

The building was a vacant structure where a fire had occurred about three years ago.

The cause is under investigation and there were no reports of injuries, said Assistant Chief John Nokland.
