KINGSTON – Ulster County Executive Patrick Ryan is continuing talks with leadership of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network to bring in-patient detoxification and behavioral healthcare needs back to the county. Several weeks ago, the network moved them to Poughkeepsie.

But on Tuesday, Ryan said HealthAlliance has agreed to a short-term plan.

“They are now offering in-patient substance use disorder, commonly known as detox services, at the Broadway campus in Ulster County and they have been able to repurpose some of the normal beds, known as med-surge beds – to offer the full compliment of substance abuse in-patient substance abuse services,” he said.

HealthAlliance had moved its Mary’s Avenue detox unit to MidHudson Regional in Poughkeepsie to free up beds should the need arrive to care for COVID-19 patients.
