KINGSTON – Ulster County has now completed testing of all residents and staff at 13 of the county’s nursing homes, testing 1,233 people.

Of the nursing homes in which the county has received results, six facilities had zero COVID-19 positive cases so far.

County Executive Patrick Ryan activating a rapid response team providing support for the swift testing.

“I do think the proactive approach on everybody’s part was a key driver of that. I have no doubt that acting quickly, we definitely saved lives. Unfortunately, we did los some, particularly among our seniors,” he said.

As part of his nursing home plan, Ryan had directed the health department to reach out to all senior living facilities that are at high risk to offer guidance and to better coordinate COVID-19 response.
