WHITE PLAINS – A Bedford man was indicted in Westchester County Court in connection with the drunk driving crash that killed a man last December.

Robert Schuster, 51, was indicted in connection with the death of Diego Trejo after leaving a holiday party and driving into the opposite lane of traffic killed Trejo, 22, of Mount Kisco, who was coming the other way.

Schuster, a criminal defense attorney, surrendered to Bedford Police Thursday morning and was arraigned before Westchester County Court Judge David Zuckerman.

The indictment against Schuster charged him with two counts aggravated vehicular manslaughter, two counts of vehicular manslaughter, one count of manslaughter, two counts of driving while intoxicated, and one count of reckless driving.

On the night of December 16, 2019, Schumer was driving his 2018 BMW 750 eastbound on Route 172 near Darlington Road in Bedford. It is alleged that his blood alcohol concentration was .08 percent or higher when he drove his vehicle across the double yellow line into the oncoming lane of travel and crashed head-on into Trejo’s vehicle.

Bedford Police and Westchester County Police investigated the case.
