KINGSTON – A New Paltz man has been arrested on charges that he possessed stolen campaign materials.

The Ulster County Sheriff’s Office charged Eli Beam, 21, with two misdemeanor counts of criminal possession of stolen property and several violations for trespassing.

On April 23 around 2:50 a.m., deputies were called to a residence in Accord for a report of a stolen presidential election campaign flag. An investigation alleged that Beam fled the area but was located with the assistance of the State Police on Butterville Road in New Paltz.

He had in his possession several similar campaign flags and other related political campaign lawn signs.

The investigation discovered several other similar larcenies that occurred on April 4.

Beam was released on appearance tickets returnable to New Paltz and Rochester Town Courts.
