Cornell Cooperative is offering a class to protect goats from parasites.

KINGSTON – Parasites are the most important limiting factor in small ruminant flocks.  Join Livestock Educator Jason Detzel virtually on May 21 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. to learn how to monitor, treat, and prevent parasites in your flock.

Detzel will discuss the lifecycle and biology of parasites affecting small ruminants and he will demonstrate how to perform fecal sampling to obtain egg counts. This simple procedure can be done at home to approximate the parasite load your sheep or goats are carrying and will help you to make decisions on the effectiveness of your deworming program.

For more information and to register, visit http://ulster.cce.cornell.edu/parasitecontrol. For questions on the class contact Livestock Educator Jason Detzel at 845-340-3990 x327 or email jbd222@cornell.edu.
