Rape suspect arrested again

HUDSON – City Police in Hudson have arrested a Hudson man in connection with a sexual assault of a nine-year-old that allegedly occurred in the city last summer.

Late in the afternoon on Friday, March 6, detectives interviewed the parents of a child who gave the victim’s account of the incident.

A little over three hours later, Mohammad Ali, 67, was located by police on State Street and taken into custody. He was charged with seven felony counts of sexual abuse and two misdemeanor counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

He was arraigned and remanded to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or bond.

Ali was charged on November 14, 2019 with two felony counts of rape and three felony counts of sexual abuse. He was released on his own recognizance following arraignment that day. On November 22, 2019 after a hearing, he was remanded to the county jail in lieu of $20,000 bail, which he posted later that day and was released.

This latest investigation was conducted by Hudson Police, the Columbia County District Attorney’s Office and staff of the Child Advocacy Center.
